“The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it is called the present.” -Unknown
The past is the events or time that have already gone by. It is history in which we can not change. Instead, we have to accept the fact that it has already happened. We can use the past as a guide that can help us make better decisions in life. The past can be used to help us learn from mistakes and avoid repeating them. It can not be controlled since it has already gone by. Even though it has the possibilities of affecting the present, we shouldn’t allow it to. The best way to look at the past is to accept it and move forward.
Sometimes we get so caught up with thoughts of the past that we forget the importance of right now. Time begins to pass us by and we find ourselves living with regrets of not moving forward when we had an opportunity to. It’s okay to think about the past from time to time, but don’t let it keep you away from the present moment.
The present is the period of time that is currently occurring. It is our “now” moment. Some people call it a gift because of the affect it can have on us. It is controllable. The future depends on the present.
Take this time to get to know yourself better. What are your likes and dislikes? Find your purpose or your passion. Do some soul-searching. Explore the world and learn new hobbies. Show gratitude to those around you. Make memories that are everlasting. All of these things will have a positive affect on your mood. Your happiness depends on the present.
The future is the events that will occur in the time after the present. This is also known as a mystery. We never know exactly what will happen, we can only make logical assumptions based on the present. For example, if I choose to not go to work, I am aware of the fact that I won’t get paid for that day on my paycheck. We have a little control over the future depending on the choices we make in the present moment.
Don’t fret about the future. It has not come yet. No one knows for sure what will happen when it comes. Dwelling on it too much can stop you from living in the moment. Just have faith that everything will be okay.
