A Thing Called Love

“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.”- Ann Landers

Love is something that everyone experience at least once in their life. It is a feeling that just cannot be explained no matter how hard a person may try. Love cannot be summed up in one word. In fact, we all have different definitions of the word love.

There are many ways we can love and be loved. It’s all about the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attractions states: “like attracts like”. In other words, you get what you put out into the universe.  If you want to experience real genuine love, you must give real genuine love.

What is real genuine love…..?

Love is Pure

Love isn’t something that is forced, it just happens. It happens in a such a natural way that it sometimes catches us off guard. We get so caught up in the moment with another individual, not realizing that our hearts are being vulnerable. Next thing you know, we’ve developed strong feelings for another person out of the blue.

Love Is Patient

I’m sure you’ve heard of the phrase, “Rome was not built in a day”. This same phrase applies to love. Love is not something that happens overnight. It takes time. It takes work. Most of all, it takes patience. You have to be patient in getting to know someone inside out. Take your time learning about their past, present, and future. Patience is key.

Love Is Unconditional

Love should never have any limitations, therefore it should not be conditioned. It has no vision so it should never see wrongs in another individual. Love is caring for someone regardless of their flaws. It’s loving them even on their worst days. Standing by their side even if they make the wrong decisions. There should be no conditions to loving someone.

Love Is Trust

To love is to trust. When you love someone you are trusting them with the most vulnerable part of your body, your heart. This can be terrifying, but it’s reality. Trust is not given, it is earned. Don’t be afraid to trust someone who shows that they are deserving of your heart.

Love is Respect

Love is respecting how a person feels. It’s when you change bad habits that is affecting someone. You can’t truly love someone if you constantly disrespect them. Be kind in your relationship. Choose words wisely in arguments. To earn respect, you must give respect. This is something that creates love.

Love Is Protecting

Love is standing tall with someone when they need you the most. It’s making sure that no one else come between the two of you. It is cherishing and defending another person’s heart after they’ve given it to you. We cannot take on the world alone. We need love as protection.

Love Is Supporting

Love is supporting one another. It is being there to lend an ear when a person wants to vent about a bad day. Standing by a persons side when they feel like the world is against them. Being there to comfort someone when they feel like giving up. It’s trying to understand a person when they already feel misunderstood by others. Having or being a support system is key to an intimate connection.

Love Is Appreciating

Love is showing gratitude towards a person who is special. It is taking time to tell someone how much they mean to you. It is showing someone how much they mean to you by spending quality time with them. Appreciation and gratitude makes love a beautiful thing.

Love isn’t something that is easy to get or maintain. It takes work, time, and effort on both parts. Remember, you must give love to receive love in return.
